Both new species are tevoroa and Tridacna Tridacna rosewateri found and identified by a self-help groups Kima Marine Conservation Park in the District of Toli-Toli Lalonggasumeeto, Konawe, Southeast Sulawesi.
Meanwhile, the type of clam that had been known to live in the waters of Indonesia is the Tridacna gigas, T maxima, T derasa, T squamosa, T crocea, Hippopus-hippopus, and Hippopus porcellanusAll seven species of clam that protected animals into categories according to Government Regulation No. 7 of 1999.
"We actually found the second since the start of conservation clams a year ago. At first we thought the two types of existing ones. However, when observed closely, it turns out different physical attributes," said Habib Nadjar Buduha, Chairman of the Marine Park Conservation Kima Toli-toli, Sunday (07/03/2011).
After conducting research through various internet sources and publications of research oceanographer world, Habib concluded, similar to characterize both clam species Tridacna Tridacna tevoroa and rosewateri. During this time, T tevoroa found only in the Fiji Islands and Tonga in the Pacific. The T rosewateri found only in Mauritius and Madagascar. Not yet know how they can be found in the waters of Sulawesi.
